What is permanent partial disability?
If you suffer an illness or injury at work, you may be entitled to permanent partial disability. Your injury or illness must have resulted in a permanent partial disability. The basis of the benefits would be a portion of specific “scheduled” or “non-scheduled” losses.
A “scheduled” loss is one in which the arms, hands, fingers or other body parts are affected. A “non-scheduled” loss is one in which any area of the body not mentioned in the schedule is involved. If your “scheduled” injuries are temporary, then you are entitled to benefits until you can return to work. However, if your injuries are permanent, then the amount of weeks you could receive benefits for is calculated by looking at the severity of your injury and the number of weeks assigned to your “scheduled” loss. For “non-scheduled” losses the number of weeks of benefits is calculated by multiplying disability percentage by 600 weeks.
