Cherry Hill Personal Injury Attorneys

If You’ve Been Injured, Let Us Help You Get the Compensation You Need

With a population near 75,000 residents, Cherry Hill is a popular place to live, work, and play. Cherry Hill became Camden County’s largest municipality in 2020 and is the 12th largest municipality in New Jersey.

As Cherry Hill grows, the risk of serious personal injury increases. More traffic on the roads increases the risk of car accidents. More workplaces and businesses increase the risk of work-related or premises liability-related injuries like slip and fall accidents.

If you’ve been injured in Cherry Hill or Camden County, don’t wait. Speak to an experienced Cherry Hill personal injury attorney today. The team at Petrillo & Goldberg can help you secure the justice and compensation you deserve.

Cherry Hill Personal Injury Statistics

In 2022, approximately 470 people died of accidental injuries in Camden County, according to the New Jersey Department of Health. The rate of death by unintentional injury in Camden County that year was 85.1 deaths per 100,000 residents.

Camden County’s rate was higher than the New Jersey average of 51.9 accidental deaths per 100,000 people in 2022. It was also higher than the US national average at 64 deaths per 100,000 residents.

Unintentional injuries were the third leading cause of death in New Jersey in 2022, after heart disease and cancer. In 2022, 6.3 percent of all deaths resulted from accidental injuries.

Not all accidental injuries claim a life. Often, a person survives an accidental injury. However, the injured person’s life and health may be permanently altered by the experience.

Most unintentional injuries are preventable. When another person or company fails to take reasonable care to prevent harm, an injured person may seek compensation through a New Jersey personal injury claim. A personal injury claim may also be available in some cases of intentional injury, such as assault.

Common Causes of Cherry Hill Personal Injury Cases

Unintentional injuries can occur in many situations. Common causes of these injuries in Cherry Hill include motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, and slips, trips and falls. Other injury scenarios can occur as well.

Car and Truck Accidents

Car and truck accidents remain a common cause of death and serious injury in Camden County. In 2022, 3,111 people suffered injuries in Camden County roadway accidents, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Over 82,000 people were injured in motor vehicle collisions statewide that year.

As of May 5, 2025, New Jersey State Police had recorded 160 vehicle crashes that killed at least one person on state roads. A total of 173 people suffered fatal injuries in these collisions.

Fifteen of the 160 recorded crashes as of May 5, 2025 occurred in Camden County. They included a crash on County Road 566 in Cherry Hill that claimed the life of one driver.

New Jersey saw 685 motor vehicle accident deaths in 2022, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The state’s motor vehicle death rate was 7.4 deaths per 100,000 people.

Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Motorcycle Accidents

Bicyclists, pedestrians, and motorcyclists have the right to use New Jersey roads like other traffic. However, they face a higher risk of serious injury and death on the roadways.

Anyone can be injured or killed in a bicycle collision. However, children under age 18 may have an even higher risk. According to Safe Routes New Jersey, 18 percent of all bicycle and pedestrian crashes between 2016 and 2020 involved a child under age 18. In these years, 889 bicycle and pedestrian crashes occurred involving a child. Five children died from their injuries.

As of May 5, 2025, five pedestrians had been killed in Camden County roadway crashes. Sixteen total roadway deaths were recorded in Camden County as of May 5. Pedestrians totaled nearly one-third of these deaths, despite being fewer than one-third of roadway users. These numbers indicate that pedestrians face an outsized risk of fatal or serious injury in motor vehicle accidents.

Slip and Fall Accidents

Slips, trips, and falls are the most common cause of fatal work accidents in New Jersey, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. They are also a common cause of non-fatal workplace injuries. Fatal slip and fall accidents caused over half of all deaths among New Jersey construction workers in 2023.

Falls are also one of the most common forms of injury away from work. Nationwide, falls cause about eight million emergency room visits each year, according to the National Flooring Safety Institute (NFSI).

While falls are a common cause of injury and death among older Americans, a fall can cause serious harm to anyone, at any age. When a business fails to take reasonable care to prevent falls or warn visitors about slip or trip hazards, serious injuries can result.

Workplace Injuries and Illnesses

In 2023, 81 New Jersey workers lost their lives on the job, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. The most common fatal workplace accidents included:

Other causes of death in New Jersey workplaces claimed an additional 16 lives in 2023.

Slips, trips, and falls are the most common cause of workplace injuries that require workers to take time off work or file a workers compensation claim, according to the NFSI.

If you’ve been injured and you suspect someone else’s negligence, recklessness, or intentional behavior is to blame, speak to an experienced attorney right away. A lawyer can explain the basics of a personal injury claim and help you pursue compensation.

Basics of a Cherry Hill Personal Injury Claim

Every personal injury claim is based on a unique set of facts. Your vehicle accident, on-the-job injury, or other type of serious injury aren’t like anyone else’s. To provide order and organization to these various claims, however, New Jersey courts use uniform rules and procedures to handle personal injury claims.

Because the facts of your case are unique, it’s important to speak to an attorney to understand how the basic rules apply in your situation. Knowing a few basic rules that apply to personal injury claims can help you ask questions and understand your attorney’s answers.

Time Limits on New Jersey Personal Injury Claims

The New Jersey statute of limitations sets time limits on many types of cases. For personal injury claims, the time limit is typically two years from the date of injury. If you do not file your claim within this two-year deadline, you may be unable to bring it to court.

Some exceptions apply to this two-year time limit. These exceptions are narrow, however, and they don’t apply in every case. Speak to an attorney as soon as you can after your injury. Doing so will help you and your lawyer file before the deadline and plan your case.

Are you concerned that the two-year deadline may have already passed? Speak to a Cherry Hill injury attorney for help. A lawyer can calculate the exact deadline in your case. Your attorney can also help you identify other options if you cannot file an injury lawsuit.

Proving Fault in a Cherry Hill Injury Case

Most personal injury claims are based on negligence. To prove that you are entitled to compensation in a personal injury claim, you’ll need to demonstrate that:

  • The person or company that harmed you had a duty to use reasonable care to prevent injuries. This duty exists in many situations.
  • The person or company that injured you “breached,” or failed to meet, that duty.
  • Your injuries were caused by the other person or company’s breach of that duty.
  • Your injuries are compensable by a court judgment (usually for monetary damages).

The other side may also raise arguments against your claim. For instance, the other side may argue that you were partly or totally at fault for your injuries. Your attorney can help you identify arguments the other side might make and prepare to push back against them.

Compensation for Injuries

Compensation is typically paid with monetary damages. Damages can cover both financial and non-financial losses.

Financial or “economic” losses include medical bills, lost wages, and the costs to repair or replace a vehicle or other damaged property. They may also include future medical bills or lost wages.

Non-financial or “non-economic” damages include conscious pain and suffering, the loss of enjoyment of life, and mental or emotional anguish caused by scarring or disfigurement.

An attorney can help you determine which types and amounts of compensation are available in your case. Your lawyer can also help you ensure that you receive full, fair compensation.
